today was the worlds best daddys birthday! we had such an awesome, relaxing day full of playing and naps and cake.

i am in constant awe of what an amazing daddy ryan is. though he always makes me out to be the bad guy...he is so head over heels in love with his babies, it is just the sweetest thing in the whole world. we love you so much, and we cannot wait to have the most fabulous year ever with you!! (i told all three to smile. do you see how well they listen to me?!?)

night three: max came in our room to pee** around 3am. ry got up with him and i went to check on cal...who was passed out in the middle of the room on the floor. :) we'll take it.

sweet cal, totally obsessed with playing the guitar (aka - the worlds most annoying toy). he dances while he plays though, which is adorable.


**i should clarify max doesnt pee IN our room, but in the master bathroom. the boys bathroom has a toilet lock because...well, that is obviously just a good idea in our house.

'project 2 boys, 1 room' update: night two went MUCH better. except for the fact that both have a brand new bed and neither slept IN said brand new bed, it was an excellent night! cal slept in his new toddler bed moved into their room, max slept on a sleeping bag right in front of the toddler bed. :) but they stayed in there all night!!

swim class today. max has been asking a lot about things he sees when his eyes are closed. i explained those things are dreams and are not real, which he accepted easily. today he told me he had "fun dreams" last night and so i asked what they were about...

"dinosaurs that eated helicopters and airplanes and fire trucks."

so i asked if his dreams scared him, and he told me "no, they were nice dinosaurs, they were just hungry!" lol.

and our sweet cal, perhaps the only 20 month old that can lift a full humidifier and dump it over. :) and then of course, sweetly come get me, take me over and say "oh no, clean aqua!"

feeling lots better today! a three hour nap didnt hurt :)

last night we attempted to put the boys in their twin beds at night. max wasnt a big fan of this idea (no tv with mommy and all) but we told him to be a big boy and take care fo his brother. i went in 20 minutes later, max was asleep in the exact same position we left him. everything that isnt nailed down was now piled on cals bed, and cal was passed out on the floor. i rearranged/put cal back in bed, left. went back 20 minutes later, same scene. at this point ry and i talked and decided this wasnt going to work and that tomorrow ry would move the crib in there and convert it to a toddler bed, and we moved cal to the crib in the nursery.

now usually when max needs to pee at 2am he just comes into our room and gets us. last night though we just heard screaming from his room. ry ran in there to find a distraught max, worried he had lost his little brother. :)

lol, needless to say...cal in the nursery + max in our room = fail job at getting them in their own room last night. such a good big brother though!

busy, busy, busy weekend! this sweet little dude got sick late last week. i quick trip to the pedi reassured us it was not rsv, thank goodness! definitely on the up and up after a rough few days, and more handsome than ever. he has been such a daddys boy this weekend, which kind of stings, but is pretty adorable.

and max power...helping me test a lens, he is a pro at holding extra still now for me IF there is chocolate cake to be used as a bribe afterward, lol. unfortunately he negotiates this "we share a piece, i eat the frosting, you eat the rest!" tomorrow max gets to go watch part of a tv show being filmed about papas cars and so max spent most of the day helping him clean up and prepare for it. if you ask the little man however, they are going to take pictures of how fast he is, lol.

a quiet day...we took valentines day photos earlier this morning for their cards! but beforehand, max was a willing model.

cal was not (poor kid was up ALL night with a runny nose!) max suggested bribing him with a cookie. smart kid.

and max tried to do the bottom part of his carseat belt after lunch...then he told me "i guess i better eat more yogurt and waffles so mu muscles get bigger, because that is so hard!" lol.

off to the zoo today! though, looking back at the photos, i should have known right off the bat that the boys were in a "lets start a brawl" type of mood.

three, seriously?

we looked at all of the animals they demanded (in order, giraffes, zebras, fingos, iguanas, turtles, lions and tigers, lol) and then went to the kids playground. there is a tractor, and cal made a beeline for it. max was around there too, running all over, when apparently some kids tried to get cal away from the steering wheel. i saw him protest and then max was there in a heartbeat, pushing two of the kids down and telling them "you no touch my brother!!"

so proud of max for not putting up with anyones crap. one of those kids threw sand! totally asking for a push, lol.


tiny baby is doomed to never date with these older brothers.

**aunt bubba says i need to note we do not condone fighting, but i am proud of the boys for standing up for themselves/each other when they were being picked on. thank you**

we have had such a fun, busy weekend. yesterday we went with gm and gp furniture shopping and got everything for the boys room!! so, so much fun. and then snuggles from aunt bees and aunt jamie at church. this morning we went out to cheer for the runners of the marathon...pretty much perfect for max and cal = it was full of american flags, blimps and dogs, lol. then we went to go see debbie and papa. max was promptly put to work:

um, papa...ry and i are gonna start charging you! :) how freaking cute is he??

and sweet cals first nap in his very own bed. i expected MUCH worse, as i closed the door and it sound like hulk hogan was inside. we are so proud of him! 20 months today.


and...this morning in the car, i MAY have gotten upset when someone cut me off. all of a sudden max says "must be a lady driving!" SIGH. he did not get this from me obviously...
